Caroline Burkhart is a mixed media artist from Baltimore, Maryland. She has a BS in Applied Design from the University of Maryland and was an art major for two years. She always enjoys taking art and jewelry courses to learn new skills and techniques.
In her life as part of an Army family, she saw the fireweed of Alaska, the poppies of California, and the spring blaze of tulips and daffodils of Sherwood Gardens in the city of Baltimore. Gardening has been an important part of her life. Every inch of her small urban garden is planted with annuals and perennials. Some stay in the garden, others are arranged in vases in the house.
Her mixed media pieces are primarily acrylic paint enhanced by water color based pencils. Her paper pieces are done on gessoed water color paper.
Color has always been an important part of her work. To her, color equates to joy. The alchemy of mixing colors and trying new color combinations is an enjoyable challenge.
